First day sightseeing in Hong Kong and loved it! Got the tram up to Victoria Peak on Hong Kong island where we got some awesome views looking down towards Kowloon! Has to be the most beautiful city we have seen so far! Lots of sea and trees along with the skyscrapers! Up at the peak we went to Madame Tussaud's and got our picture taken with the famous people we knew and after lunch went a wander about making the most of the peace from the city! Next we headed for the mid-levels escalator which is 800m long, one of the longest covered outdoor escalator systems in the world! Cam was a bit disappointed because he thought it was one long escalator but it is in about 20 sections! Great for going up hill but we had to walk all the way back down!lol. Especially as we had to rush to get our bags and meet up with our couchsurfing host! In the evening we met up with Gill who we met in Japan! It was really nice to see her again and she took us to a nice chicken place for dinner followed by a dessert shop for pudding! Glad we went for mango smoothies as the tofu and almond pudding she ordered looked awful and didn't taste much better! The black soup like look of it says it all!lol. So after a really great day we realised I had lost the camera! Instant bad mood! Wasn't safe to speak to me so off to bed we went!
Wed 4/7
So today we retrace our steps in search of the camera! Last place I remember having it was up on the peak and we only made two stops after that, one to make a call and the other to pick up our bags at the hostel! We had no luck! Day wasted but it was worth a shot! If only who ever had taken it had left the memory card behind! Oh well worse things could have happened! Still have great memories and photos from our iPhones! (typical that they are the photos we have backed-up!lol) Tomorrow is a new day! :)
Thu 5/7
And we wake up to thunder and pouring rain! Not the best start to the day! Our plans were out the window as everything we wanted to do was outside! Got ready anyway and headed to Kowloon in our shorts and rain coats with our brollies in tow (turns out to be a worth while investment!lol) Had lunch at a nice Irish bar and then went to the Space museum! At first it seemed a bit s*** but it did get better! Just a shame the kids are so rude! They barge in and play with the displays even if you are there first! I would be horrified if it was my own kids! Had to stop Cam fae sweeping them out of the way at one point! Had visions of them falling to the ground like bowling pins and us getting thrown out!lol. The day had cleared up by the time we were out of there so wandered along Avenue of Stars, it was nice for the view, we only knew three or four of the names tho. There was a big dragon boat festival going on so stopped and watched a few races before heading for some dinner at the Outback Steakhouse! Had a great meal and timed it just right for happy hour! :D
