Today we got some sight seeing done. I finally made it to the Tower of London! It was amazing. Very cool to see everything I've been reading about for so long. We got to see traitors gate, the bloody tower, some torture devices, St. Peter ad Vinacula where Anne Boelyn is buried, the Crown Jewels, the site where Anne and Catherine Howard were beheaded, the armor King Henry the VIII used to wear, and so much more. We got to go into the appartments where Anne Boelyn and Jane Grey were held before their execution. It was crazy to look out the same window onto the green where they had been hundreds of years before. We spent about 4 hours here and I think I took an ungodly amount of pictures.
Afterwards, we walked over near the Tower Bridge and ate some ice cream and soaked in the scenery. It was really very cool. We met up with a tour group and did a walking tour for the next two hours. It was a lot of time on our feet. The tour told us about all the nitty gritty things in London. We went to the sites of the Jack the Ripper murders, we got to see an old plague pit, the site of Londons old scaffold and many other things. Learned a lot.
Unfortunately, Im afraid all this traveling has gotten me sick and right now I am with out a voice :( Hopefully things will turn around and I'll get better soon before our next stop. I believe I'm going to turn it in for the night so we can get up early and see the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace!
Cheers!
