Holla' at y'all. (Vietnam is a big fan of the work of Lady Sovereign and, rather alarmingly, the every grating Joss Stone.)
So, (in a more narrative stylee...) We're in Vietnam. In one piece, relatively healthy, if a little sleepy and a little bloated (having discovered a store selling cookies down the road.) Bit of a contrast to Cambodia: less poverty, more traffic, not quite so hot, hotel has MTV... (hurrah!!)
Saigon seems like a pretty cool city, though we seem to have so far missed the best bits of it due to our slight incapacity to map read (this has led us to various eating establishments/markets, but a lack of historical monuments.) We were sad to leave our original tour leader Con behind, but are getting on well with our new guy Thinh, and his inexhaustible supply of energy. Onwards and upwards!!
Have had a couple of good nights out at local bars (ending up one night in a club aptly called 'Apocalypse Now') and are excited about, what I'm sure will be, japes on the overnight train to Nha Trang Bay tomorrow evening.
Excursion today to Cu Chi tunnels and Mekong Delta was particularly fabulous. Highlights included a mild panic attack in the tunnel network, being serenaded by locals (a fetching tune about the problem of leprosy when conducting a relationship) and Nige' getting to grips with a snake...admittedly a tame snake, that was being monitored, but illicted a reaction that can only be said to have supserseded hysteria.
Am peeling like a banana, (a manky, old, bruised brown one) so off to nab Dom's mosituriser (already being dependant on his Bonjela.)
Love you all long time and promise lots of 'sexy massages' on return...
Ally, on behalf of her fellow comrades (who haven't put a self-imposed ban on going on Facebook and thus don't need to pass time on the Internet...)
MWAH! xxxxxxxx
