I have to mention that we passed through Liechtenstein on the way, a principality that wasn't on the picklist to choose from ! We saw the 700 year old Vaduz Castle and found a great little pub, the only one on our travels around Europe so far (everywhere else it's cafes & restaurants). We had to wait ages to cross the border into Switzerland, apparently it is one of the toughest border crossings in Europe and our tour guide kept getting sent back and forth to 'pay' all the appropriate people before they would let us in ! Highlights of our 2 days here include : * the Lion Monument, which is dedicated to the Swiss guards who gave their lives to protect their country against the French armies ; * boat cruise on the very picturesque Lake Lucerne ; * mountain excursion up in a revolving gondola to Mount Titlis (it was so cold that I think the mountain has been named aptly!) ; * shopping for a beautiful Swiss Watch and lots of chocolate !
