Woke up feeling a bit grim! Something had really upset my tum. Surely not the yummy prawns or the creamed cabbage!!!!! Anyway, no need to go into further details but I definitely didn't feel like being far from the cabin today.
We had our UK Immigration checks in the morning. The UK Border Officers boarded Aurora in the Azores and are travelling back to Southampton on board conducting face to face checks. Ours was this morning and was over in seconds. Not a bad bit of their job I should think. Nicer than being cooped up in a booth in Calais or on a cutter in the Channel.
A bit windy today with sunny periods and the odd shower. Not outside deck weather. We had lunch upstairs and I got down some mashed potato and fish. I was hungry and empty but nothing really caught my fancy. The potato was gorgeous though. I never eat potato so it was a bit of a treat.
It didn't really do the trick though so I went back to the cabin and slept and Bob went to art on his own. It was a landscape of autumn trees reflecting in water. I might have a go at it tomorrow morning if it's still not "outside" weather. I felt much better when I woke up and had some tea and a couple of paracetemol. It may be a migraine lurking which tends to take me like this. But I think I fought it off.
Beginning to make plans for disembarkation and arriving home. We have had our luggage labels delivered to the cabin and also our instructions for disembarkation on Thursday. We have been given an approximate time of 1030 which is not so bad. We have to be out of the cabin for 8am. All our luggage other than our hand luggage will be collected the day/night before from the corridor outside. Then when we disembark they will be in the luggage area on the dock for us to collect. They have the whole thing down to a fine art, the ship will be thoroughly turned around as we get off. New passengers and supplies will be coming on that afternoon and Aurora will sail on her way again by 5pm. It is an amazing logistical operation to watch.
So, tonight we were invited to the Captain's Farewell cocktail party. It was a black tie night again. Our last. A very enjoyable occasion. We had multiple champagnes with a nice couple from Chepstow, then Mick and Maureen joined us and we all went to dinner with the additional company of a couple we have met before from Essex. A lovely last menu from Marco Pierre White centring around Beef Wellington. I managed three courses.
After dinner we had to rush to make the late night theatre show which was the Headliners performing We'll Meet Again. Such a delightful nostalgic show. We all get issued with union jack flags and wave them throughout ending up with a standing ovation through Land of Hope and Glory.
A most enjoyable evening after a rather horrid day. I got a tremendous bout of hiccups from the end of dinner through the show, ending with a Zantac at bedtime. I think my innerds are giving e the message that its time to go home to a diet of no alcohol and lean meat.
