The Day That Never Was has been and gone. Woke up to Monday morning…. And still the squall rages on. Force 9/10 last night and water flooded the aft show lounge!!!!! Not entirely sure how… The ship's satellite tv has been knocked out, probably blew down last night. Apparently, this weather will continue today and tomorrow and then the forecast for the Bay of Islands, New Zealand is sunny and warm. Fingers crossed as we have diving booked there.
After breakfast we went to art. Two toucans sitting on a flowering tree. Not one of my best…. Nothing particularly wrong but just not very fetching. Afterwards we picked what was going into the exhibition tomorrow from this sector's work. Bob and I have 5 pictures in each.
Bob is suffering with his cold today so have dosed him up with lemsips and some cough suppressants I bought last time we were in Florida (2013). They had gone a bit gummy LOL but hopefully will still work. We spent the early afternoon reading in our cabin so he could rest comfortably.
I went along to the photo gallery to see my photos amongst the others on exhibition. They have printed up really well. The results are announced tomorrow. Not sure what the prizes are. Probably photo prints. Highly doubt I shall win anything.
Then at 3:30 we met up for our final rehearsals in the club studio. Yikes. It went as badly as we've ever done it today. Missed lines. Slow pickups and delivery. Lost places. Awful. Hope that's a good omen for tomorrow. We have a tech run at 4 and then the actual show at 5. It's in the ship newspaper now so no getting out of it…… I have to wear my glasses in the show which is a shame as it means I will be able to see more than usual. Normally I can gaze out with a myopic stare and not see a thing, which can be very useful LOL. Poor Bob is quite nervous but with no reason as he honestly has done such a great job in picking up a big part with very little time and rehearsal. I almost corpsed today in rehearsal with something he did….
Back to our petito cabino (sorry, too much watching Mapp and Lucia) for an aperitivo g&t after the rehearsal. Make mine a STRONG one sez I.
Good dinner with an interesting table. One couple from NZ who do a lot of house exchanging for holidays. Went to the show. A singer/musician who tours with the Hollies and Cliff and has played Roy Orbison in the West End. Really good. We were going to go to the late movie - Gone Girl - but to be honest it was a bit too late. Will have to catch it next time around.
To bed. Wind howling outside and the lower open decks all still closed. I noticed some sandbagging around doors in the theatre to the open deck and apparently those with balcony cabins on the windward side have had to have towels banked along their patio doors to keep the rain out as the wind is driving it sideways. We are quite oblivious to it all in our little indoor cabin. I quite like it if I stir in the night and feel the ship moving around. Very comforting. Still…. Will be glad to get the sun back sometime soon.
