A bright, windy, sunny day about 17C. The swell was quite high and the ship rolled a bit. Not enough to bother us old seadogs but I saw a few people with seasick bands on. Not warm enough for sunbathing but we took coffee out on the rear sundeck after breakfast and sat there for an hour or so watching the wake and the waves in between reading. Very pleasant. I would like to think we will get another sunbathing day in before Southampton but I somehow doubt it.
We covered tree painting this afternoon in art. Bare, twiggy trees. Green leaved trees. Trees in the distance. Trees painted with the side of the brush rather than the point. Trees scratched out from wet paint using the corner of a credit card, fingernail or toothpick…… learned quite a lot and plenty to practice.
Then, because we only had light breakfast and no lunch at all, we went into tea and had a few snacks and a cup of tea. Yum! After tea we went to the Headliners' teatime show which was Blame it on the Boogie, one of my favourites. Dance show based around 70s music. Everything from the 3 Degrees, to the Who, Status Quo, Suzi Quattro etc. Embarrassing lycra dance costumes in neon colours hahaha the nostalgia. They did incredibly well considering the pitching of the ship. No idea how they managed the moves balancing on giant balls etc. So well done.
Had a quick dinner up in the Horizon. Indian themed. I knew it would give me indigestion later…but it was delicious anyway. Then we went to see Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies. Again. It was a bit odd seeing it in the cinema which is just a tad smaller than the Bluewater IMAX where we saw it in glorious 3D at Christmas. But still fabulous. And we nudged each other whenever we recognised a bit of scenery that we'd visited. When we get home we'll have to get the whole remastered set and watch it all again: Hobbit then LOTR.
So, tomorrow is Ponta Delgada, Azores. Our last port of call on this mega voyage. Hopefully we can make the most of it.
