A quiet day at sea. Nice and sunny this morning so we lay out by the pool with our books. Each day brings cooler weather. Today we were down to about 23C and then in the afternoon, the clouds completely came over and the wind came up. Still not at all cold, muggy really….. but a bit grey. I hope we still have some bright days left in the voyage. Fingers crossed.
Art was a bit of a challenge. A cityscape: skyscrapers, domes, churches done in silhouette against a two tone wash sky and with water in the foreground mirroring the sky and a small boat on the water. The challenging bit was we had to paint it freehand with no drawing. Very difficult to do straight lined buildings freehand on a moving boat…. Well, that's my excuse anyway. I suppose it wasn't too bad but not very pleased with it. To be fair, I didn't much like the original artist drawn version that we were using as inspiration, so I was unlikely to like my pathetic version. I couldn't have even attempted it a couple of months ago though so I should be encouraged by that.
Mick and Maureen called us and invited us to have dinner with them which we did. It was black tie tonight so a very good menu. We had a most enjoyable dinner and then went to the late show in the theatre. It was 4 male vocalists who largely sang a Capella and were brilliant. But even better before they got started there was a surprise. The Aurora Singers, a passenger choir, had been secretly positioned around the theatre and first one of them, then more and more, joined by the Headliners, some of the band and other entertainers, gave us a rousing version of One Song.
A really good evening.
