Slept in till 915 again! Is it the rocking or the total cabin darkness??? Whatever it is, I never sleep this well anywhere else. Amazing.
Hot, sunny, breezy…. I guess in the night the surf level in the pools must have reached a critical level as we came on deck to find them all empty and covered with nets. We did peg out by the pool after breakfast. Had to keep hopping under the pool shower to cool down. Hopefully the swell will lessen and they will refill them again very soon.
Finished my latest book, Narrow Dog to Carcassonne. A travel book written by an elderly chap who buys a narrow boat in retirement and he and his wife and their beloved whippet, Jim, take it across the channel and around the rivers of France ending up in Carcassonne. They are frequently very frightened because an English narrowboat is not built for the sea or busy rivers, but it's a fun read which made me smile a lot. I've got a second book called Narrow Dog to Indian River which is a follow up where they go down the Inland Waterway of the Eastern U.S. Will start that tomorrow.
The clocks went forward an hour at lunchtime as we approach Hawaii on Tuesday. At that point we will be 10 hours behind the UK.
Began our two day painting this afternoon. It's a ramshackle shack built on a tree over a stream with a rickety stepped path, bridge, lots of rocks, roots hanging from the tree etc. Got it all drawn today and started painting. Not too bad so far.
After art we went to the cinema to see an Irish film called The Stag. It was about a group of fairly metrosexual guys who go off on a weekend's hiking stag trip. The arrival of the bride's brother, a very in-your-face individual called The Machine, throws the whole trip down a very different path though. Very very funny at times and rather sad at others. Quite thoughtful. I enjoyed it. Recommended.
After dinner we went to see a guitar instrumentalist in the theatre play a show based on the guitar greats from Duane Eddy through Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, Carlos Santana etc. He was really good except he made loads of agonised faces throughout which was slightly offputting.
