We had two days of driving ahead of us with no real stops. The first drive took us to Mwzana on the shores of Lake Victoria and Steve's home town. The campsite was crazy busy and we were kept awake by partying locals until about 3 in the morning. I was also bitten to death by mosquitos and my feet looked and itched like I had the pox for days.
On the way out of Mzanza the next day we stopped to meet Steve's eldest son (who was jokingly matched to Hunter) before going to the ferry which would take us across a bit of Lake Victoria. After this we drove on tar roads for a bit before turning onto a god awful road where the contractors had fallen out with the authorities and stopped building the new road. It was made worse by a huge thunder and rain stor which made driving nasty ( and scary) and allowed us to discover that the truck leaked quite badly!
We stayed in a small guest house near the Rwandan border at Nyakhanazi. Here Steph demonstrated her true nature by screaming at Jo when he asked why she wasn't with the rest of us when he showed us our rooms. She continued screaming and drew a large crowd of local children, also hissing in a Damien-like manner at Ana "Don't you f**king touch me" when she tried to calm the situation down. She then cried and we all ignored her and gave Jo our support. The owner's daughter gave us a tour of the village - very poor and not a tourist attraction!
Early night and early start to head to the border the next day.
