Visited an ostrich farm and learn all I ever need to know about them! Apparently you can't tell male from female until they are 14 months old.
Tried for the caves but crazy busy so booked for the next day and set forth to tackle the Swartzberg pass - 27km of gravel road rising in switchbacks to over 1500m in altitude. Drive was not helped by a cycle race taking place so firstly tried to kill them overtaking them going uphill then tried to knock them off the road as the overtook me on bends going downhill! Otherwise stunning scenery.
Lunch at a lovely waterfall called Meiringspoort getting in the way of other peoples picture!
Lovely meal at a private game reserve called Buffelsdrift overlooking a lake with Sue, an fellow Brit traveller.
Next day a trip to the caves - Surreal moment of the day - singing the first few lines of the Welsh national anthem in front of a crowd of strangers in Cango Caves, South Africa to demonstrate the wonderful acoustics for the guide - my claim to being Welsh may have backfired on me today! Great guide - as camp as the whole of Glastonbury's tent city!
Enjoyed staying at Lodge 96 - Matt very hospitable and we had watched a lot of the same comendy.
Ended the day with an amazing drive along Route 62 with ever changing landscapes with a common theme of mountains and passes.
Arrived at my next airbnb in Cape Town - another gem with excellent location to bars and restaurants - ate at Hello Sailor tonight.
