Brussels/Bruges October 2008
So I was quite excited for my first trip since I arrived to London! Having a week off school, I planned to fly to Brussels, then take the train to Bruges, then the train to Amsterdam and fly back to London from there. The first stop was Brussels. It is the capital of Belgium as well as the European Union. Brussels is quite nice, although there is not much to do. The culture is French European. The food is quite expensive and nothing special. Rob and I wandered around the square in the evening. It was quite busy, but the weather was dreary; cold, and rainy.
The next morning we were off on a train to Bruges , a picturesque, romantic city. We stayed at a bread and breakfast, where our eccentric hostess, Maria, showed us a fantastic time. We spent our time doing walking tours, sightseeing, and stopping into pubs to try beer. We sampled chocolate, Belgium waffles with ice cream and took a nice canal ride. It was so relaxing. Two days spent in Bruges, then it was back on the train for a short ride to Amsterdam.
