My Dearest Niece Alicia! You are just wonderful. I admire you sooo much. You write so well. I guess your trip away is not only beneficial to you but to me. I am just beginning to get to really know you from the past few weeks of communicating. What I see so far is a wonderful, smart, beautiful and exceptional niece. I am proud to be your uncle. I know you and the rest of my nieces and nephews are all smart, but for you and Khalid to take the steps that you took takes guts, will power and a greal deal of courage. You are setting an example that the other family members will be proud of.I think of you daily and am glad to hear that it is working out for you. Just take one day at a time. Auntie Chris and I are always here if you need anything.
Love always,Uncle Fazil March 4, 2008 10:41 AM
Anonymous said... Hi Aleeysh,Wow. The picture that I have in my head of you is as a little pigtail girl. And now look at you. Well, the reason that you accepted that position is "It was meant to be" There is a plan for everyone's life and yours is only playing out as it is written. GOD is in control, HE knows best. May HE guide you and protect you wherever you may be. Never lose sight of GOD and He will take care of you.

Hey again it is ME!!
Loved your posting about your first experience. YES, indeed you will be experiencing VERY different cutlures and people. You are definitely a brave person (got that from your dad's side - lol).
A blog is the greatest idea for family and firend to stay in touch with you. I feel like you are not too far and will look for forward to read your postings.
Hey, Sounds like quite the adventure down there and I wish to come visit you sometime soon (especially after you mentioned the $8.00 massages)lol. I'm glad you're getting used to your surroundings and wish you all the best for the next few months. Sorry you have to miss my birthday, but you can make it up with an iPod Nano when you get back :P. Anyways love you a lot!
Glad to hear you are adapting well to China and enjoying your experiences. Looking forward to reading your blog and hopefully we'll be able to see some pictures soon.
Sounds like you're having an awesome time. The way you describe the smells and being stared at on buses sounds a whole lot like India! Can't wait to hear more! -Liya
oh alicia! i love your stories of china! it is so gross about all that spitting stuff...ewwwwwwwwww! i am just cracking up! have fun!! we love you! ps- i love that you are "out of the box."
Glad that you are enjoying your trip. Looks like you are having fun. Great. Love the pictures. I enjoy reading your blog. Keep it going. I can't believe it has been 1 month already. Time sure goes by.
It appears as if you are having a great time. You are brave to venture out without knowing much of the native tongue. I am amazed at the similarities in the lights and buildings. Thanks for the receipe, if I have the energy to try it out I will let you know how it turned out, but peanut butter with chicken?????
I am glad that the area you are in was not affected by the recent earthquake disaster. Poor people!!! Stay safe and chat again soon!!

Hey Aicia!
WOW!!! Your adventure sounds amazing!! HK souds very beautiful and exotic; however, I don't think your mom will be too happy :o(((. I was glad to read that you took care of the VISA part of your trip. Good job!! Stay safe and enjoy your journey!
Lots of love Aunty Saz!
Alicia
Thanks for all your comments!
Reeka- I miss you too! And I really wish you were here with me. While I was watching the skyline and light show, I was wishing you all could see it with me. I am glad you think I made the right choice. So do I. I am excited to see you all in July! I will be there in time for your birthday!
Auntie Beela, that is interesting that your friends from work didn't really like Hong Kong. It was wonderful- best of both worlds, Eastern and Western. It is pretty expensive though.
Auntie Saz, it's not like New York at all! It is very small, easy to find your way around. The city is modelled after London- there are even double decker buses! I do not have a pocket to put my moey in...and that is not safe from the pickpockets, but a shoulder bag is pretty safe. So far, so good!
Reeka
AHHH!! Aleesh Hong Kong sounded AMAZING!
Ohhhh man, ALL I kept thinking as I was reading was "DAMN IT! Why am I NOT there with her!?!?" =(...I miss you SOO much, but i'm equally glad that you're getting to do all this stuff leesh, I really am..I really do think you made the RIGHT choice!
But seriously though woman...come back to me SOOOON!! *tear*
LOVE YOU!!
Sabeela Clarke
Alicia, you are having waaaaaay too much fun. We want you back in Toronto but it seems to me your next trip is going to be Hong Kong - interesting from feedback I got from the folks at work they weren't too keen on Hong Kong, that just goes to show you have to experience it on your own. Pictures are amazing and thanks for sharing your wonderful adventure with us.
Love,
Aunty Sabeela

Hey Alicia!
I can't believe you are on such a journey!! It sounds and looks so exciting! Wished I was there!!! Although, it does look a little bit like NY (the big apple) nasty, no? I did notice that you lugged around your purse, is that safe? Would it be better just to put your money in your pocket? Just a thought, to keep you safe, better to be safe rather than sorry.
Can't wait to read about your next excursion and see more pictures.
Stay safe and be careful!
Love Auntie Saz
