Leaving Koh Tao was hard but I am travelling to Phuket because it is the nearest place to Malaysia and therefore cheaper to get a flight. The American girls and I split in Koh Tao as they were journeying home it was hard to say good by i felt I had slightly picked up the accent on certain words and they were a really good laugh, I so pleased they welcomed me in and let me travel with them for 2 weeks.
On reaching Phuket however I realised how easy it had been with them and Id gotten lazy in making friends as there was no need for me to so when I got to the busy Island if Patong I felt very intimidated, luckily I picked a great hostel full with young backpackers and made friends in minutes and went out to some bars soon after.
Thailand is famous for Ladyboys and pingpong shows. The ladyboys lined the streets and there were stunning I couldnt tell any different, its easy to see how some mistaken gender situations can happen. After introductions were made with my new friends Megan, Lucy, Alex and Julian we all decided to see what the hype was of a pingpong show. The show consists of dancing and then the main even being woman coming out and extracting objects such as a large amount of live fish, live birds and pingpongs hence the name aswell as other things from there ladybits. We didnt spend to long there realising pretty quickly that us wasnt a good place to be and was more gross than anticipated, I fairly sure some of the guys were mentally scarred!
The next day whilst the others were hungover they missed out on a great lunch of banana shake and chicken rice with a small chicken broth it went perfectly together and I was so pleased that I hadnt really drunk much and ventured out to the beautiful day, clear skys and the sun beating down. When I got back the group resembling zombies claimed they were ready to hit the beach, looking at there grey faces I begged to differ but company on the beach isnt to be turned down.
Patong beach has soft sand and fairly clear water the only downside is it has a lot of tourists so unlike Koh Tao it is lined with sunbeds and water activities, but it was still good to relax in the sunshine. Stupidly I fell asleep in the wrong place and a large wave got me Ive never jumped up so fast and turning to the group they were doubled over with laughter I suppose it serves me right for making fun of there hangovers.
The next day after booking my flight to Malaysia I went and did some shopping looking for something to reflect Buddhism for my mum as this is the subject she is teaching to her class at school. I bought a bracelet for Thailand as I have bought one for every country and a wooden carving of a Buddha and then set out for a couple if hours on the beach again.
As it was my last day in Thailand I was determined to eat my favourite food of the country which was mangoes and sticky rice which is sliced mangoes with cooked sticky rice and then marinated in hot coconut cream and palm sugar you have to try it to understand. I finally found a restaurant and started with Penang curry a nutty medium red curry and then the anticipated dish which lived up to previous ones I had it was the perfect way to finish Thailand.
Feeling ready to go to Malaysia I went to the airport and for the first time ever my name along with some other passengers got read out on the speakerphone I am still unsure as to why but I felt important and excited. I boarded the smallest plane Ive been on with no middle isle just 2 seats either side, but it was cosy ready for my new adventure. I enjoyed Thailand the food was great and the islands are stunning but I feel happy and excited to move on.
