Arriving in Koh Tao was a relief for 2 reasons, one being I was just pleased to leave Koh Phanghan and the hopefully the bad luck behind the other because on entering the island right away you can see it is stunning and the reason everyone says Koh Tao is there favourite island is obvious.
I am still travelling with the American girls so we found a hostel between us and set out to explore. The beach main beach was a little overcrowded but it was beautiful the sand was fine and the water was crystal clear. Many people come to Koa Tao purposely to do there open water dive course here because it is perfect surroundings and there are many dive schools which get you certified. We found a little restaurant by the beach playing cover songs and had cushioned mats to layout on whilst you eat. The food was amazing pineapple rice and red coconut soup with crispy spring rolls containing glass noodles.
The next day we decided to trek it to a secluded quiet beach behind a mountain. After the sweaty, tiresome hobblery hike (due to my healing foot) we came across an opening to a stunning little beach which was empty. The sand was soft the sun was beating down and the water felt like it was a bath. It was serene and tranquil and felt like I was in a kind of utopia as I laid out on the sand with my friends listening to some peaceful music we had brought. It was well worth the walk.
I hope in the future if I get stressed or have a hard time I can stop and look back at this moment remembering the calm perfect feeling that everything will work out.
We ate in the same restaurant again that night, i tried Tom yam soup which is the hot and sour soup i made on my cooking course.
The 3rd day the girls wanted to walk to a beach further on but the walk the day before had, had a detrimental effect on my sprained foot yo I went to the nearest beach alone. I found a patch of sand near a bar playing music and just people watched. Koh Tao is a good place to recuperate and relax which is what I needed and 3 days was enough to get myself back up to health from Koh Phangan.
Koh Tao has been my favourite island so far its timing and visual aspects made it the best place to visit in Thailand for me.
Our last night we just had a nice meal of massuman curry which is a coconut curry with potato, and we chilled out as it was our last night together. The American girls were going home and I am going on to Phuket for a few days before flying to Malaysia.
Inventory: considerably less I think I left items in Koh Phangan by mistake...don't panic it wasn't my hairdryer thats still safe.
Belly 100% I've had no problems really in Thailand.

Mum Stanley Oh dear!!! What did you leave behind? The island sounds fantastic. You need to think about the serenity when you get crochety because you are hungry. Hope your ankle is getting stronger. Good luck on the next part of your quest. Xxx
