Sorry for the late blog been a busy couple of days. Missed my connecting flight to Mumbai and got stuck in Singapore for a couple if hours worrying about the location of my bag, other than that my flight was very mundane watched some films ("life if pi" and "wreck it ralph") arrived in Mumbai the airport (with bag) waiting for the hostel man to pick me up and after waiting for a while i found another girl (Annabel) who was heading to the same hostel. We made it and got settled in.
After a late start due to jet lag we made friends with 2 other girls in the dorm (Suju and Daniella) we decided spending the day together, as we didn't know Mumbai, would be both practical and safer. We set out in search of a place called the gateway of India...and an ATM...( the other cultural sight to see in India ) after 10 minutes in the outdoors we soon realised we were way out of our depth, the sheer amount of people, dangerous driving, windy roads and hustle and bustle was both confusing and intimidating so we decided to regroup at the hostel gather our wits and try again. Our second attempt was albeit fairly ropey but more successful. We found the train station and got in the all ladies carriage to our station. In the mens carriages everyone is hanging off the sides as the doors are kept open on trains so you can stand in the breeze. We got lost finding the monument and followed a british and New Zealand guy (who also looked as clueless as us) and found the archway built to commemorate the port but as it was late we attempted to head back.
Finding a rickshaw (similar to a tuktuk) was a difficult mission we were trying to barter but they seemed unwilling to try with woman despite the price being vert high, finally 1 guy said he'd take all for of us even though it holds 3 it was a squeeze and when his erratic driving made as scream he decided to drive worse on purpose closely missing 2 pedestrians...I am so grateful to walk away from the rickshaw alive!
We were recommended a family run restaurant for dinner and after quite a wait for a table (always a good sign) we ate a fantastic meal sharing curries and meat kebab...i was in my element Indian food is definitely for me!
Putting aside the amount of people I'm loving India!
Inventory 97% il update my travels more often sorry
Belly update also ticking along nicely so far.

Mum Stanley Mumbai sounds chaotic. Sheer amount of people. I am glad you are goingaround in a group, it sounds as though the place is very male orientated. Indian food has always been your favourite so you must be in Heaven with all the smells and tastes. Be careful if you intend going to the Holi festival when you go to Jaipur. I have been researching and it seems very macho man and they get very excited and worse the wear from too much booze. Good luck with flights tomorrow. xxxx
Niks Wow - rickshaw sounds terrifying! Glad you made it through safely! That guy must be pretty fit to get up enough speed to scare you. Knew you'd love the food. Hope tummy is still holding up! Many hugs xxx
