We got up early today determined yo do some cultural sightseeing. Many of the group still had a large amount of paint on them. First we visted a place called Amber fort. This has elephants walking to the top and back with people on there back and a very large fort building i believe to keep people out but as there was no guide I ended tended to invent the significance and meanings. We decided not to use the elephants as transport and walk up to the fort...avoiding the elephant poo and big elephant feet. Some of the group decided to climb even higher to see the other fort and when the trek started the group accidentally split and somehow i ended up up in the group climbing even higher...which wasn't my favourite choice. When we finally reached the top we found an added charge to go in and of course the Indian trick again of cheaper price for Indians more expensive for foreigners so as i took so long decided to pay bit there wasnt a lot to see.
After we went to the monkey park which was a temple in a hill with lots of monkeys around. 2 monkeys were trying to get into a parked car and another was trying to chew the aerial off...no manners! Pesky monkeys. We saw some more trying to eat a mans orange. We reached the temple with the intention of seeing the sunset from a high point but just before it went down there was a crazy thunderstorm and the heaviest rain came down so fast we ran cover, and made our way down when the rain stopped.
That evening we decided we had had enough of the restaurant next door after eating there twice so went to a restaurant around the corner. I ordered aloo Gobi and biryani rice the rice was fluffy and tasty unfortunately the the potato and cauliflower curry was very burnt so not my favourite meal. We stayed up at our hostel playing charades quite tame to start with then the guy team started getting clever with there ones giving me words like rhetorical...try and mime that so we got the back with the word sarcasm .
The next day Daniella and I planned to get a train to Jodhpur so got up early to fit some sights in. We saw a star and sun stone monuments. There were many complicated architectural designed buildings which caught the sun in different ways and they use it for the zodiac signs as well. We then saw the palace of winds, an area was set aside purely for woman no one else allowed apart from the maharajah of course who spent most of his time here. We were supposed to see city palace too but you had to pay alot to get in, instead we went yo an Indian coffee house and had veg pakoras and sweet lassi which they did in a handmade terracotta pot and then smashed after it was so fresh and light perfect for a hot busy day.
Rushing back we managed to catch a 8hour sleeper bus to Jodhpur.
