Got the flight over to Jaipur I stupidly got my flight times mixed up and turned up 5 hours early for my flight! Jaipur is packed because we arrived for the Holi Festival like everyone else. On the first day we bought some white tunic like clothes ready for the festival and then went to what we thought was an elephant festival but unfortunately the elephants that year had been cancelled due to safety, but they had some traditional Indian dancers and singers perform.
The next day was actually Holi day so we got up early changed into our white clothes and went to the main area. We hadn't even got past the hostel gate when someone threw a handful of yellow powered paint at me! The main place had singers and dancers again but this time added paint it got everywhere so many different colours. We then decided to go to the floating palace, but although we went in a very big group where the guys outnumbered the girls the Indian men came in big packs targeting the girls throwing paint and trying to touch us inappropriately and trying to isolate the girls, but with the help of our male friends they pulled us out and we tried to find a rickshaw to get out of the area...in Mumbai I was shocked when we managed to fit 4 people in a rickshaw but we found a rickshaw in Jaipur and convinced to take the whole group, I don't even know now how we possibly managed it but in 1 rickshaw we got 14 people in!!!!! We somehow found a Hotel with a rooftop party they had pipes coming from the walls, spraying water and again more paint so we danced and got soaked, there was colour everywhere!
When we were all danced out we went back to the hostel scrubbed so much and got about 70% or the paint off, re met with the group crowed into a restaurant and had a calm evening eating aloo Gobi and sweet lassi perfect end to a perfect day. By far my favourite day if the whole trip so far!
Inventory: 98% ... Added 2 very wet colourful tunics.
Belly back to 100% which is lucky as we have an indian squat toilet in the hostel.
