Yesterday and today I just spent the day with my host who i am staying with until the 8th. We just did a bit of wandering I quickly noticed that there are food places (whether that be food stall or actual shop) everywhere. I would say that they outnumber shops by about 70-80%.Each district in China has there own style of food for example Chongquin have very spicy food, Beijing, famous of course for peking duck eat warm filling dishes with lots of garlic. Shenzhenwhere I am now is most famous for there different delicassys and meat, here they eat dog (which is expensive and poular), cat and monkey brains which you eat when the monkey is alive! luckily i have managed to keep away from this so far and unlike the horsemeat problem you would know about it if you ate it! we went out to a restaurant for dinner, in china one person orders dishes and then you all get a bowl of rice where you just keep picking up bits of food with your chopsticks and adding it too your bowl...when the food came out i found out I had the choice of either- pig intestine, beef stomach or femented mouldy beancurd which they call smelly beancurd (because it is, its apparently a delicassy) so however adventurous I am trying to be I stuck to plain rice and some shredded veg, I do like how everyone shares the meal though it was very friendly.

Unfortunatly I have woken up with a rotten cold but managed to get out on my last day and see a place called the window of the wold where they have reconstucted all the famous landmarks around the world into a smaller but still quite big structures. there is even an Eiffel Tower replica you can go up it was impressive and a beautiful day so was good to wander round and pick out the tourists which has started to become a fun game as they are quite rare in Shenzhen.

Tomorrow I am catching a 24 hour sleeper train to Shanghai, I got the top bunk and can only imagine it being like the train on an idiot abroad so it will be an interesting experience. I wont be able to blog for a couple of days until i reach shanghai and the picture i have posted today isn't a new one as i was unable to use the internet on my phone today. Shenzhen has been good but I am really looking forward to getting to shanghai seeing a main city and meeting other backpackers in the hostel.
