Had a good day yesterday apart from the morning train incident, luckily things got better.
I went to one of the main towns in the Lo Hu which borders Hong Kong and China for shopping and food with a teacher from an English speaking school to guide me. Her English was very broken but we understood each other and got on well...i realised towards the end though that she was starting to copy me which isn't ideal as she was saying things like "it doesnt matta" and "alright mate"
We ate from a traditional restaurant which cooks all the food in one pot in front of you it was amazing but soo spicy, not a good idea when they only have squat toilets in china!
When talking to the teacher i found out some traditional customs- when greeting someone you should nod you head or shake there hand..never kiss them on the cheek :-S - if you give someone a gift of shoes it means they have embarrassed you and you want them to leave- special birthdays are 12 and 24 years because this is the Chinese animal cycle so every 12 years you must wear something red everyday and this special year could bring you luck or a disaster.
Today i got very very lost and walked around the district for 2 hours but luckily for the first time since i got here it was sunny. The highlight of the day was finding cheesestrings i felt a little like home. Tiring day but worked out the train system. Inventory 100% i changed the lotion because the hotel one was smaller.
Thank you xx

Mum Stanley I can just imagine: A Gravesend speaking Chinese person. I am surprised about the food being too spicy, I bet Dad would have enjoyed the dish then. I must say that your blogs are very interesting. I look forward to hearing more from Alice the backpacker. xxx
