After arriving in Gwailor, being told that the room Steve had booked and paid for was unavailable, having a very angry phone conversation with the website man who'd messed up our booking and was not willing to help, we went and met Steve at work so he could help us find a place to stay. 20,000 students training to be teachers were in Gwailor that week taking exams so there was not a free hotel room anywhere, but luckily the Indian family Steve was living with had a spare room and said we could stay. When we'd put our stuff in the room we were given Chai tea and Indian snacks and chatted with the family. We also met the speech therapist that steve works with, whose birthday it was and who we were going out to dinner with later that evening with another of steve's friends.
The restaurant that evening was a local one they ate at alot and was really cheap and tasty. We had coffee after dinner and tried some Indian sweets laura had bought from the supermarket which tasted like seasame snaps. When we got back to Steve's we chatted for a bit and watched an Indian wedding go past on the balcony then tried to sleep under the mosquito net he found for us.
