Year 9 Geography told me that Mexico City was the largest city in the world. Cowboy films told me that Mexico was a hot and dusty desert. Despite knowing that both are incorrect we still arrived in Mexico city expecting a sprawling, dirty sweat box. Thankfully this was not the case. Infact, the city is very pretty (at least in the old colonial heart) and was pretty chilly because it's at quite high altitude. We stayed in a nice hotel in the Zocalo which was a perfect location for exploring the city. It was also the place for Alice to get her shopping kick - Zara, Sears, and department stores galore. Apart from visiting the many local markets and going out to the first decent restaurants for an age, the main highlight of our trip was to see Mexican wrestling. It was like the poor man's WWF but was very amusing. Our favourite wrestler was Maximo, a fat homosexual wrestler who's moves included kissing and shoving his arse in people's faces. He also had a little dwarf dressed as a monkey following him around although he had to be carried out after another wrestler kicked him in his bits!
Unfortunately, Mexico City marked the end of our trip and it's now back to freezing cold England and the credit crunch. Thanks to everyone who's had a peek at this blog, we hope it has been at least a little bit interesting.
