Well, into Honduras for a second time, this time planning to actually get off the bus. Turns out the first day was, however, spent on buses as we struggled through the rain and road works of Central America. We've complained about this before but why do they close a road to allow for on-coming traffic when there is no on-coming traffic?! Anyway, we eventually got to Copan, a pretty little town close to the Guatemala border and chock full of American and German tourists. All this is because of the famous Mayan ruins 2km out of town. The city of Copan was a thriving Mayan capital, ruling the surrounding country for hundreds of years and many of the old temples and buildings still stand today. The ruined city is also famous for having some of the most intricate and artistic statues and carvings found in the Mayan empire. Best of all is that because people are less anal out here than at home you're happily allowed to climb all over them and pretend to be making your own human sacrifices. Not that we did that. We're not that uncool. Honest.
