Went to visit the Grand Palace today, got a boat to get there which was only 14 baht each, and we got a guide to take us around the palace, who was quite nice. I was quite glad to have a guide in the end because we learnt some stuff we wouldn't have known otherwise, like what all the details on the buildings were - plus it was good to have our own photographer! We saw the emerald buddha who was kitted out in this season's outfit (he changes clothes 3 times a year) and then walked around the palace looking at the architecture. Afterwards we got a tuk-tuk to Wat Pho, where we saw the reclining buddha (which is absolutely hugeee compared to the golden buddha - despite the golden buddha being the biggest one in the world) and I acted as Josh's tour guide this time by reading out bits of information from my travel guide - I reckon I did a pretty good job! Then we realised both our cameras had died so we decided to go back home on the boat again, and stopped off at soi cowboy again for a drink/to see what it was like in the daytime (much more normal). We attempted to order southern comfort & lemonade but it took quite a while for them to understand what we wanted! Went to Crepes & Co across the road for dinner (we seem to eat crepes in every country we go to) which was really nice food again, although not very thai! Hopefully we will visit Wat Arun and maybe the Khao San road tomorrow, and I think we may be heading up to Chiang Mai in the evening! xx
