hey,
Thursday was our last day in Rotorua and I think we exhausted all the activities there. There seemed to be very little public transport which is a bit crappy when you're a backpacker. We didnt want to pay to go to a geothermal park but found one for free that we wandered around and it absolutely stank of sulphur which we could only take so much of.
Me and Vicki then went for a pretty long walk to find something to do and ended up back at the luge track where we did the Sky Swing Bungy. this was like a giant swing that we were strapped into then cranked up a pole until we were facing the ground about 100m up, it was pretty scary. I then had to pull a big cord to release us and the swing just catapolted us over the city, it was literally breathtaking and my heart was beating so fast, but such an adrennalin rush I'm really glad I did it.
In the evening we went out to celebrate Jon's birthday (someone we met on the kiwi bus) and went for a fantastic steak (and my most expensive meal yet) and then to a bar for drinks where they were celebrating the Jambalaya festival and the whole town-of 5000 people seemed to be out for it. Was quite a late one but met some brilliant people and had a great night.
