So, we arrived safely. Not that the flight was realistically going to be too much of a problem, no. Our connecting flight felt a bit like the blind leading the blind but I think everyone's just a bit more relaxed about things. That's fine by me.
The taxi ride from Cochin Airport to our homestay in Fort Cochin was the nerve wracking part. We arrived at the beginning of rush hour and were thrown into what seemed like some sort of Worlds Most Mental Driver Competition. It's almost like all the London White Van Drivers have died and gone to Kerala. Overtaking, honking horns, squeezing through the tiniest gaps, but hey, why use half of the road when there's another side? It was actually quite fun, although Alex's face, at times, told a slightly different story.
Once we were through the traffic and out of the built up part of town, we could loosen our grip and take in the scenery. Beautiful. Won't go in too much detail, when we're back, you can look at our 136 photos of the same tree etc. Plus I'm starting to feel a bit Wish You Were Here...and Judith Chalmers has set the bar pretty high.
So, anyway, arrived at the home stay to be greeted by Beena and her lovely family who proceeded to cook us, and an anglo-french couple, a meal consisting of about 7 different dishes which were all great.
Then bed...by about 9.00pm.... shattered.

Sheila Your first experience of Indian roads and it probably won't get any better! It's amazing how they manage to miss each other - good driving or just very good luck!
Julia Sounds a bit hair raising. Sounds great though, love ya !
Dan & Caroline Glad to hear you's arrived safely. Loving the blog idea. x
Lorna Wing Lorna Oh! I remember those hair-raising journeys in Kerala, passing ox and carts, huge over-laden trucks and buses, the odd garlanded elephant or two, all on a bend at 90mph! Glad you're having fun. Lx
linda Yes a bit like Sri Lanka, Rule 1 - only overtake when you have something coming towards you. xx
