After an amazing time on Koh Tao - and probably could have stayed there even longer - we thought
it was about time we moved south to the infamous party island of Koh Phangan.
We had briefly spoken with Birdie and Danielle whilst in Bangkok about the possibility of meeting up here but it was still a surprise when we turned up to our accommodation - Coral Bungalows to see them both wondering down to get a coffee from the restaurant.
We dumped our bags and caught up with them for a chat and a bite to eat... this ended up being a small drinking session having been handed fliers for tonights Black Moon Party!!! Leaving the beer behind for a couple of hours we went back to our rooms for a power nap and a shower.
Meeting back in the bar a later that night armed with cheap beers and flourescent paint we got the night underway. We stayed at our hotel bar till about 12-1am when they started laying on shuttle buses to take us to the Black Moon Party on a different beach. It was good fun, but not as amazing as we had hoped - fairly small in comparison to what we imagine the Full Moon to be like.
Although I did randomly bump into the receptionist I worked with at STA Travel at the party which was freaky.
The next morning, with the oh to familiar heavy head and blurry eyes we woke up and had breakfast. Determined not to let the hangover beat us we went for a walk to the Haad Rin beach where the full moon party is held and I went for a swim in the sea. Arriving back at our hostel in the nick of time, just before the heavens opened and, well stayed open for the next 15 hours. It rained, and rained, and rained. This left us confined to our hostel for pretty much the rest of our stay on the island
which was most frustrating. That evening we bought some beers from the seven eleven and played cards in our room.
Fed up with the miserable weather, with it not looking like clearing up, we booked our boat to the island of Koh Samui, just a few kilometres south of Koh Phan Gan.
Lets hope there is a turn in the weather, otherwise we are considering heading straight to the west coast of Thailand. Sun dance time I think...
