The next greyhound experience was upon us, we had to leave our hostel a lot earlier then needed due to the buses timetable so we packed up, said another goodbye to recent friends, got on our rucksacks and grabbed the cool bag of odd bits of food and our jam sandwiches, got to the greyhound bus station, after waiting, waiting and more waiting, the time that the bus was due to arrive had pasted and we were getting more and more agitated sitting in the sun (sweating profusely), we then got wind from someone that the bus was going to be another hour as it was running late leaving its previous stop so after we grumbled a little bit we treated ourselves to Ice Mochas and stared at the road for a further hour and 20 minutes. Finally the bus arrived and we couldn't wait to get on and bask in the air con... We were soon disappointed when we found out that this 4 hour 20 minute journey was going to be in a sauna, faulty air con system, you can imagine our faces, I couldn't sleep for sh!t so tried to get as far through my book as possible and not clock watch. The only thing that kept me from going crazy on there was that we were heading to TOWNSVILLE!!! Where the ferry port is that takes people over the Magnetic Island... Home of the FULL MOON PARTY, ekkk we couldn't wait for the party the next day. Townsville it self wasn't really rated much and not many people use it as one of the stop offs down the coast, once we finally managed to get off, we were greeted by... No one, our hostel did come but because we was so late - they gave up, luckily after a quick phone call they was very accommodating and came straight down. When we got there they explained that due to some many people being in town for the party they haven't got room in the dorm that we booked and that they will have to move us to a private room but unfortunately it's a double bed and a mattress on the floor AND AN EN SUITE, we tried to hide our excitement for some privacy but not sure we pulled it off by the amount of thank you's that spilled out when they walked us up there. Even had a fridge so we don't have to use the rank communal ones. We wanted to get out and see the shops to treat ourselves to a little something new for the Full Moon, town was as shocking as people portrayed but we found the beach and had a wonder, in fact we walked for bloody ages, by the time we went to the supermarket, ate and got back to the room, we were all to shattered to go out so got an early one. Full Moon dayyy, I had a mahoosive lay in until 11am #I LOVE MY EYEPATCH AND EARPLUGS!! Really needed it too, felt soo much better, we headed down to the shops again as yesterday was a failure, I was the only one that was naughty and bought some new shorts. We needed to cool down so took the towels and speakers down to the beach, found a patch of area that had stinger nets so we could freely go in the sea. Kate and I jumped in while Liv sunbathed, we were so happy messing around, trying to catch waves, swimming to the furthest point, just enjoying the sea. Something soon scared Kate, she felt something on her leg and freaked at the thought of jelly fishes, I was worried but needed to stay, I couldn't miss this. We had been in Oz for just shy of 2 weeks and we hadn't been in the sea yet it (can you believe?), I just floated and swam until my fingers went wrinkly. Lunch time hunger pains were starting to kick in, we wanted to have enough time to get ready so strolled back, stopping off at the alcohol shop on the way to pick up some 'Goon' for pre drinks. I can't remember if I've explained what that is but it's basically cheap box wine, we went for the red Shiraz, I didn't think it was half bad but Liv wasn't so impressed. After eating we needed a rest, I've managed to hook Kate onto watching The Wire so she watched an episode while Liv and I crashed out. Considering we all had hours to get ready, we still managed to be 2 hours behind the time we wanted to leave, mainly due to outfit changes but we all ended up redoing our faces at least once - were to used to being ooo'natural now so after putting on the smallest bit of eyeliner mascara and bronzer, we thought we looked massively done up and felt to much. After finally managing to get out we make our way down to the harbour, carefully hiding our goon from the police in a classy plastic bag. We were trying to get it down us as quickly as possible because we couldn't take it across with us, only to then find out we have an hour wait until the next ferry, sadly this time we didn't have rumikub so had to work with playing music on our phones, it wasn't long before a grumpy girl told us to turn it down. The time had come to board what was definitely renamed the party ferry, it was full to the brim of drunk people, mostly Ozzies, waiting to get over. From this point the night got pretty hazy and disjointed, all I can piece together is that there were cocktail buckets, good music, sand between our toes and a mini reunion of people we had previously met. The journey home was an interesting one, couldn't get on the buses back to the ferry because there was so many adpeople so we decided to walk the beach way back as it run parrell or so we were told!! 3 or so miles later.. We knew there was a ferry every 30 minutes past so we were rushing to get the next one, failed by about 30 seconds, we arrived at the port to find it just towing away. We were NOT PLEASED. Found a bench and had a nap, the port slowly filled up with more people desperate to get to bed. We were at last back in Townsville, I wish I took a photo of everyone coming off the boat, it was like a gang of zombies, dragging themselves home, all filtering off in different directions, such messes. Slept in until 1pm the next day, headed down to The Sweatshop Cafe for some much needed hangover food, all they had was toasties or jaffles as they called them, it didn't help much, we passed out on the beach but sat in the shade as couldn't handle the heat. We decided the best way to cure a hangover was another drink. We went out in town to try to change our perception of the place and it was okay, awful crappy whether spoons kinda place but luckily we were told about a club called Consortium, we met up with some people from the full moon there. Many rum and cokes later... Next day we pulled ourselves out of bed, packed those bags, we hadn't bothered making friends in this hostel so it was a quick check out, before we knew it we was on our way to Airlie Beach, get me to the paradise of Whitsundays!
