We arrived in Mission Beach early afternoon on Saturday, it's a tiny little town and everything is closed on Sunday so we headed to Woolworths - which is like our Tesco's or Asda's. Stocked up on the essentials and headed to our hostel. It's a treetop house which is in and looks over the rainforest, it's a lovely little place, open kitchen, dining area, big sofas and cushions to chill out on. Loads of board games, ping ping, table football, swingball AND A SWIMMING POOL. That night was cinema night so we watched Anchorman and Pulp Fiction, the hostel workers even passed around popcorn - a little treat, I miss my salt and sweet popcorn. Once we were all settled in bed, I stayed up reading for a bit because I had napped earlier and wasn't tired, unfortunately I noticed that we had a whole in our wall where a window was meant to be, and as our room light was on, it attracted all the flying beetles and Mozi's, I got myself all worked up as the beetles were bouncing off the walls and one was buzzing underneath Livy's bed, I accidentally woke Kate up from squealing so much, grabbed my mozi net for the first time and frantically hung it up around my bed, clearly still terrified, I didn't get a good night sleep. Woke up on Sunday morning and pottered around, bit of reading, bit of sun bathing, another nap, packet of noodles for lunch, then an afternoon of chilling with people and playing Rumikub, turns out it is a Danish game and there was alot of Europeans in the hostel so we didn't need to teach the rules much. We each washed the contents of our sweaty stinking rucksacks because they had laundry facilities, our room looked like a clothes jungle, washing lines draping from bed to bed and things pinned underneath our bunks. Luckily we had the dorm to ourselves. I'll add a photo on here of the jungle. We had a healthy (budget) dinner of beans on toast and then headed out night fishing, it was that nights free activity offered by the hostel, Kate caught a fish and a crab but lost them before we could reel them in haha. I was using one of the fish lines but also tried on the fishing rods, I had a Danish guy teaching me how to you use the rod but no matter how much squid and prawn bait we put on, no fish would bite. The next day was my SKYDIVE DAY, it was the most exhilarating experience I've ever had!! I was fine leading up to it, got picked up from our hostel and headed down to their office, we went through our training and got introduced to our tandem partners, mine was called Troy and was lovely, he really made me feel comfortable, I paid for the video and photo package so they were documenting my journey as we went. I was fine until I saw the plane then I started to freak, I followed everyone on the plane but then Troy told me to wait as we were FIRST TO JUMP, obviously at that point the panic started, we climbed in last, the door was kept half open as took off and he told me to put my hand out to feel the wind, it was all becoming real, we reached 8,000 feet and we hit turbulence, I HATE flying, I used to love it but as the years have gone on I've got more and more nervous flying, so I am freaking out and feeling sick to my stomach holding onto anything and anyone I can, we hit 14,000 and the Troy told me to put my goggles on and wait for the amber light, there it was flashing for us to go, he pulled up the rest of the window, he hung out to take a look at our position, I'm currently strapped to him, so I'm also hanging half out the plane (screaming for Kate), he's confused and we come back in, we then stick out the plane again but Troy's confused and waits to get instructions from inside the plane, I'm obviously clueless but before I could cause a fuss, he taps my leg and instructs me to put my legs out and tuck them under the plane and before I know it were tumbling through the air, within seconds I'm screaming with excitement and enjoying the adrenaline rush, the power of the wind is blowing my hair, face, cheeks, skin and clothes. The 60 second free fall went so quick, before I knew it, the parachute was pulled and we fly back higher in the sky, all of a sudden we was just floating and taking it all in, Troy was pointing out all the different things around, we practised the landing a few times whilst we was flying down, I had to hug my knees with my hands underneath my legs and stretch my legs out but because the harness was so tight it was really difficult, finally practice over and we landed and I could feel the sand between my toes again. I can't wait to show you all the video of the jump, I watched it again afterwards and it was like doing the whole dive again, considering doing another one in Thailand but not sure I trust their safety regulations as much as I do the Ozzies. I needed a little relax afterwards so went back to the beach and had a nap in the sun, we had to stock up on food again (I've found a cheap love for canned goods) so headed to wooly's, we had a 3 hour waiting time until the next bus so clearly took our time, we got a little distracted in the cosmetics aisle and found the hair dye section, we went 3 ways on some purple hair dye and now currently have a strip of purple each in our hair! Tonight was live music night at the only bar in Mission Beach, we get free transfers down to the bar on the beach front, it was nice to have a few drinks and speak to the newbies at the hostel, soon followed by some drinking games.. especially UNO!! Tuesday was a relaxing by the pool day, I felt like I lost my tan in the sky's yesterday so needed to put the effort in. Spent all day sunbathing, reading and swimming. The relaxation we needed. Tuesday was Trivia night back at the bar we was at the night before, I sat out of the quiz, just sat and drank some overpriced drinks! Wednesday was another chilled by the pool day, although my morning was ruined by yet another bank problem, I am screwed on the banking front again but I refuse to think about it until I am out of money now, to stressful and it's ruining my mood each time I try to sort it out. Wednesday night was free BBQ night at our hostel, they even got us veggie burgers, after we was all stuffed and in a food coma, they pulled out the projector and put on another movie night. It was nice to have a little relaxing detox for a days. We've now left the lovely retreat of Jackaroo Hostel. Second Greyhound bus journey was another interesting one, firstly the bus was over an hour late so we were sweltering in the morning sun, fully dressed because the last bus we got on was freezing, turns out that when the bus did turn up - the air con was broken and what a bad journey for that to happen on, it was fully packed because everyone was heading down to Magnetic Island for the Ministry of Sound Full Moon party; Benny Benassi, Martin Solveig, Kraft Kuts, Tom Piper. We cannot wait! Party time tomorrow.

Deb Lawson You have made my knuckles white just reading about that skydive, you brave girls! Livy must take after her cowardly mum!
Mum I can't wait to see the video of your sky dive, it sounds amazing! But I agree you might want to think twice about doing it in Thailand. If you want to do it again you could always do it when you get back home. It would give you something to look forward to after this action packed loooong holiday! xx
