Oh my, I didn't think that bus journey would ever end, I was seriously uncomfortable, long legs are not made for long coach journeys. Especially not an overnight 10 hour ones, it seemed everyone on the bus was asleep but me, I was sitting next to Vidal and she was curled up like a ball for the majority of the journey, bless her. I was very happy to see the sign' Welcome to the surf town of Agnes Water and 1770'. As soon as we got in our dorm room, I needed sleep, and was going to be a grumpy girl until I did. 4 hours later I woke up alot fresher, the girls had been on a wonder to the beach and the town centre so they had sussed out the area a bit. We each took turns washing the contents of our rucksacks, they smelt like boat even though we had only taken a few bits of clothing with us on the Whitsunday's trip, theres always a constant musty smell in our bags so the wash was very much needed. We could only handle a chilled night tonight so just hung out in the hostel and watched some tv, the girls went to bed a little earlier then me but I stupidly sat up alone and watched some murder documentary and scared the life out of myself, didn't like staying in a dorm that night, I hadn't met anyone that was in that room before and they were all asleep when I came in, ekk, scary night. Luckily I was soon greeted by the next days sunshine, today was 'learn to surf day', we headed down to the surf shop, while waiting to sign up we bumped into the bearded Italian called Luciano and a German guy called Steffan from our boat trip!! They were doing the surf lesson this morning too, brilliant news as Luciano was so so funny. You've probably seen photos of him on my Facebook now, just a big funny bear man haha. ANYWAY; we headed to the beach, with our rash vets on, boards in hands, pretending to be proper little surfer chicks, they taught us the basics and how to pop etc, then time to put the theory to the test, in we went.. After about 20+ try's I did it, I was standing and then 2 seconds later I was belly flopping into the shallow waters but I did that a few times so pretty sure that makes me a surfer, right? I was alot better at kneel surfing which I think that should be credited as surfing too. We previously arranged to meet Christa on beach after our lesson so it was laavely to see her again, later that night we arranged to meet up with Luciano and Steffen by the beach for a BBQ, we couldn't afford the BBQ food so we all cooked pasta before hand and took it down in tupperware containers. We have seriously overspent in Australia already, looking at the bank balance is painful, need to stick to the tinned goods but its so hard when there's sweet little restaurants and yummy stuff I'm the supermarket aisles. It was pitch black around the BBQ area so we were sharing two head torches between the group of us, I told the girls the story of the murder program I was watching the night before and it royally freaked us all out, constantly jumping and screaming at the smallest bug or something falling from a overhead tree. We got a warning from the security man that we shouldn't be drinking outside, he was very nice about it, he said to be gone in the next hour and he'll pretend he's not seen us, phew!! We talked everyone into coming back to our hostel, just as we was about to leave we got a call from another guy from the boat, he was just coming into Agnes Water so we directed him to where we was and he gave us a ride to the hostel, he had two Swedish guys with him too so we had a mini party in the seating area back at ours, I passed out soon after. The next day we chilled in the hostel for the morning, waiting for the weather to improve because it was to windy and we had planned to rent boards again, after a bit the wind died down so off we skipped to the beach, Kate and I spotted some a-m-azing potato wedges in a cafe on the way down and gave into the hunger pressure and hoovered up a shared bowl, our stomachs very much appreciated it. We could only afford to have one board between us and Christa didn't want to surf so we split it between the 3 ex-LOCOG babes. Kate was first back on the waves, she managed to stand a good few times but the current was so strong that she ended up half way down the beach. I was up next, the waves were a lot higher and back to back today, there was hardly a break between waves so it didn't give you enough time to lay down. Kneeled a few times, and half stood up once but I soon gave up, my muscles were aching from yesterday's surf, I used this as an excuse and bailed to go back to sunbathe. We booked to go on a tour of town 1770 later in the day so we went back to get showered beforehand, I discovered a new freckle on my lip, definitely thought it was food at first haha but it's sweet I like it, I've had loads of them pop up around my body but this one is my favourite. We got picked up by our tour guide who was in fact our surf instructor too, shows our small the town is. I can't remember his name so we'll call him Bruce, Bruce took us on a drive around the outskirts of town to see some kangaroo's and wallaby's, even saw a baby joey in his mummy's pouch, so cute, got some great photos. Then went to a little area where we engaged our brains (not done for a while) and had a mini history lesson, we were told the story of how Captain Cook discovered Australia and was shown the spot where he landed and explained why the town was named 1770. We then went on a little walk to the top of the town and walked along the cliff edge, with Bruce continuing to explain the history lesson as we go. Time was getting on so we settled in a bar on the coast and sipped on a cider to watch the most beautiful and peaceful sunset, we sat on the rocks and just reminisced about home and about future places we want to travel to see. All of us were quite over excited about what we had learnt and how much we loved the tour and for only $17.70, so totally worth it! Bruce was telling us about a bar in town that does Italian buffets on Tuesdays and our mouths started to water, there was no going back, $15 dollars and a mountain of food later, one guy even told me I was a machine (slightly embarrassing), we couldn't move after we finished, we just lent back on our chairs and entered a food coma. We had planned to have a drink after our meal but couldn't handle it, we got out our torches and started the scary walk home in the pitch black. Just as we got back, the heavens opened and all of a sudden the rain poured, couldn't believe it, I stood in it for a while out of shock and just being weird I guess. Liv then came shrieking out of the kitchen, flapping about asking for the room key, I went to let her in and she leaped onto the top bunk, Christa and I were truely bewildered, once Liv got her breathe back she explained that there was a mouse crawling around the bread bins, we were all pretty grossed out by it as we've been eating that bread for the past 3 days. I was annoyed too as Christa and I had only just bought cheese that day to make some grilled cheese sandwiches for tomorrow's Greyhound bus journey. After everyone chilled out and Livs heart rate returned to normal, we had a restful evening, mucking around with cameras, being silly and packing up ready to leave the next day. Hervey Bay, Fraser Island here we come.

Deb Lawson Hi girlies this regime must be a good dieting technique, but HATE hearing you are hungry :( just wait till you get home and spoilt again. First wild rodent of the trip so no good for I'mACGMOOH! Livy usually recovers mouse fright with a stiff brandy but top bunk does instead! Have a great and civilised time with Jack! Keep bogging, love reading it, Deb
