Kuala Lumpur
As soon as we were out the airport you could see the difference. Making our way into the city it seemed so much more organised, tidy and new. The city looked polished with new huge buildings and monorails above.
We checked into our hostel which was right in the middle of Chinatown. The first thing we noticed about KL was the amazing street food. Maybe it was partly due to being the month of Ramadan, but there was absolutely loads of delicious food and desserts everywhere! So the first thing we did was explore Chinatown and the really good market with all the fake bags :) and then I had a liver curry for first time, it wasn't bad!
Straight after we headed to see the KL Petronas Towers but unfortunately couldn't get in. I can't believe Al had to que up next morning at 7:00 am to get the tickets. The view from 42nd floor of the towers skybridge was pretty cool but not as much as it would be from the top.
The next few days we visited Merdeka Square, where independence from Britain was first announced, national museum, cultural centre where we saw a Malaysian traditional dance that represented all the minorities.
The slogan, "Malaysia truly asia" seemed to fit so far as there was a diverse mixture of asians with a strong chinese, Indian, Sri Lankan and only 40% native Malayan.
