Our second day in London is almost over! I really do love this city! There is so much to do and it has so much to offer. Everywhere we turned there was something historical and interesting happening. Everyone is so dressed up, looks pretty, the accent is great and they bike everywhere.
We started our day early and were walking from Shoreditch to Buckingham Palace by 9:00. We wanted to get there early so we would have the perfect viewing spot to see the changing of the guards. The process the changing of the guards is amazing. I had no idea how long it was, that the streets shut down and there was a horse and music procession and parade. It was so interesting to see and to top it all off the Queen was in residence today!
After the Palace, we walked through Hyde Park and went to Harrods. Harrods is the most amazing store in the whole world. We walked around in awe. Of course we got judged so hard, being backpackers and all, but seeing all the gorgeous clothes, accessories, architecture and food was definitely worth the hype. We grabbed lunch from Harrods for take away and ate in St. James' Park on a bench. Eating Harrods with my best friends on a bench in a park in London was a perfect memory.
On our walk back we stopped at Trafalgar Square where we saw the National Portrait Museum. Our route was perfect because we saw Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Parliament Square and of course took pictures in the red phone booths (you'll see all the pictures at the end of the month)!
We have squeezed a lot into our two days in London and have only spent 21 pounds basically all on survival needs like good. We really budgeted this one because the conversion here is SO BAD. It was pretty comical, we are definitely experiencing the backpacking life.
Tomorrow we have to be up again by 3:00 to get on a 4:00 bus to the airport to catch our flight to Amsterdam!
Love you!
