This morning we did not need to get up so early as the walking tour into Cologne wasn't until 10.30 so could linger over breakfast. The boat seems to move so smoothly - you would not know if it was moving or not unless you drew the curtains or looked out the windows. Even when we dock you never feel a bump. So we set off to the Cologne cathedral and did a tour with Franco - it is gothic and very large. It has 70 full time staff looking after it - replacing stone blocks, window panes and continually restoring. There were a lot of tourists in the cathedral and at 11.45 we were all asked to leave because there was going to be. Service. They started to build it in the 12 th century and didn't finish until 18 th century. We went back to the boat for lunch and in the afternoon, Gerry stayed on board and I went shopping - didn't buy a thing. Came back to the boat and got Gerry and we went back up in to the city and had an Iced coffee. Back to the boat for dinner with John and Joan and Rein and Carol. Nice evening then off to bed.
