Today breakfast was as yesterday - a virtual feast. Have to be good. After breakfast we went to the car park and found our car on level -5 and headed to Gent about 35 Klm's away. We chose the toll free way and went through small villages and farming land of corn, potatoes, dairy cattle etc, much the same as through Tower Hill. We parked near the castle of Gent and took a tour through the castle which was good except for the torturous times they went through in days gone by!! We then had a healthy lunch of salad and omelet. After lunch we took a boat ride around the canals of Gent - very pretty. Then we went to the cathedral of St. Barvo's and saw Van Eycke's masterpiece of the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb. We then headed back to our car and went back to Brugges on the motorway. We parked under the market square again and went to our B & B. Sabine had very kindly done our washing and brought in all dry and folded. Chris set the ironing board and iron up in the garage for me so I did all my ironing. Gerry was chatting to Chris and Sabine in the sitting room and having a Belgium beer with Chris. They told us there are over 800 Belgium beers. They also recommended a nice restaurant so they made a booking for us for 8.30 pm. We changed and headed to the restaurant on foot - not far away. Gerry had lobster and I had Flemish rabbit with apple and prunes. The restaurant was nice so we have booked there again tomorrow night. Walked home with full tummies.
