Wake up at 4am :-/. Absolutely freezing!!!! Throw a load of layers on including hat & gloves go to the wind shelter where i thought everyone was up but turned out I was the first up for the exception of Taft who had made surprise pancakes for the group, they go down nicely and warm me up a little. Leave the site to go into the reserve about 4.30 to watch the sunrise. Unfiortunatly it was a bit cloudy to see the sun rise over the Canyon but still waited to watch it come over the clouds which it eventually did and when it did what beautiful sites the canyon offered, as the sun rose further the canyon flaunted its various colours continuously changing all the time. Worth the early wake up for sure. The group leave to start their walk down the canyon and leave me, Nigel and Stine to wait for out helicopter ride. All 3 of us are seated at the front, we take of and start flying over the vast area of forest and then as the forest ends in front of us we fly over the edge of the canyon, vertical drop below us. Looking down to the bottom of the canyon we are told from where we are flying to the bottom is 1 mile straight down!!! Just an incredible feeling, showed us around the canyon, pointing out different landmarks. A very quick 50 minutes later, but very memorable 50 minutes at that we arrive back at the airport!! taft drives us back to the bus depot where we get a bus to the trail down the canyon Start the walk down the canyon about 10ish and arrive at the 1.5mile checkpoint at about 11. have a little break and set of again to the 3mile check point which we arrive about 12ish. The 3 of us have a bit to eat & sit on a rock to see if we can see Alex, Jess & Facu and within minutes we see them and start shout and whistling down the canyon, they finally see where we are and we wait for them to climb to where we are. All have a rest and the 6 of us walk back to the top. Arrive back at the top about 2.15. Catch bus back to the camp site where some have showeres and other sleep. After dinner we decide to go bowling, have 2 games of bowling and in doing so work up an appetite so we all go to Wendy's, which is similar to a McDonalds - but in my opinion nicer, so hopefully it catches on in England soon!!!! Knee hurting after slipping on a rock earlier on in the canyon, so hopefully it recovers for the walks at Zion!!!!!!
