Day 3 - Nakuru to Lake Naivasha
A cooked breakfast and a spit of goat for dinner has changed our thinking that we're going to return home skinny. Another night of scratching at our tent has left me completely exhausted. Lying here now listening to a hippos grunting a stone throw away has me worried that my situation may have actually gotten worse.
A short drive to Lake Navarsha this morning which is where we're based for the next two nights. An absolutely stunning setting once used as a backdrop for the movie Out of Africa. Seeing hippos within metres of our boat and witnessing a fish eagle swooping for a fish next to us has left us in awe of what we've experienced and it's only day three!!
Also saw wildebeest, giraffe and water buck from the water. So strange seeing fisherman wading the banks. Less strange was seeing a few Chinese men trying these techniques in their underpants.
What we learnt today:
No need to worry about the hippos provided the electric fencing stays on. Let's hope the electricity supply in rural Kenya is better than South Africa. Update - no need to worry about the electric fence as a huge hole allowed a hippo into our camp?
Don't sweat the small stuff.
A whistle from your boat and a fish thrown can facilitate a fish eagle diving next to your boat. Does that count?
News in Kenya is more worrying than in South Africa. More corruption as well?
The Queen gave away Mount Kilimanjaro, so it's no longer in Kenya. Got to love colonialism!!
