Singapore
We left Australia (me reluctantly) to start the final leg of the trip.
Flight was spot on. Lots of wiggling of the legs and moving...mart even ate the plane food (sign we're backpacking!!) no alcohol for either of us. It's a miracle.
Landed and it took us quite a while to get through immigration was just a mass of people. Another stamp for the passport though..
Got a taxi to our hostel. Bless the taxi man he kept telling me the street didn't exist but he dropped us off not too far away. However. A backpack and the humidity of Singapore is not a good mix!!
Got settled in to our beary good hostel haha and got given a map. Few things circled an we we're off.
We had the list prepared my cousin sent me so set off for marina bay.
Made it to Fullerton bay rooftop lantern bar. Absolutely class over looking the marina. Bit pricey mind u! I committed the ultimate sin...went out without my memory card in my camera. IDIOT.
From there we went to fiv for a cheap $5 drink and then went to the Fullerton hotel rooftop to watch the light show at marina bay. Panoramic views of the Singapore skyline lit up. Breathtaking. Shame it's so expensive and now I'm going to have to go back to take photos.
So humid it's ridiculous mart was very self conscious that the whole of the back of his shirt was wet haha.
Good nights sleep even though it was a 10 man dorm.
Attempted to go to JB station to collect our train tickets. Forgot we had to cross a boarder and didn't have out passports. However the subway is super clean and SO easy to navigate yourself around.
Managed to book them online in the end so no worries. By this point we we're starving and as we are staying. In china town where better else to eat! SO cheap. You can eat some strange stuff here. Frog soup...pig intestines. Must try some!
We pottered around did some shopping- got the usuals pin patch postcard and Xmas tree decoration and then went to wait for the parents arrival.
We'd just ordered a drink when they turned up...think hazel nearly gave the taxi man a heart attack screaming. Was an emotional reunion. Spent the evening eating and drinking around China town. Hazel an mart went to bed and me and mart ended up in Clarke quay. What an area! Along the river just lined with bars. Had a few drinks and ended up in hooters. We weren't hungry at all but had just the 20 wings. Was pretty drunk by this point.
Last day we woke and went back to Clarke quay caught a water taxi to marina bay. Explored the malls and found some bars.
Onto raffles for the famous Singapore sling! Lovely big old colonial style hotel..went to second floor to long bar..old style fans cooling the room down and monkey nuts all over the floor. Ordered 4 Singapore slings which we're actually delicious and enjoyed being in such a famous hotel. Sipped it very slowly with them being $34.
Back to Chinatown..had dinner at the Chinese heritage restaurant. Ordered a load of stuff including the delicious Singapore chilli mud crab - however I had a hard time getting into it!! Ended up just bashing it a lot.
Caught a taxi to the Fullerton hotel and had a drink there to watch the light show over the marina. After that we went up to the marina bay to the top observation deck to see the Singapore skyline. Took some wonderful photos. We snuck a floor higher to the ku de at club as it had a better view and it had music. Few more drinks at Chinatown then be for the night.
