Landed in a rainy Sydney on a Friday. As this was the weekend that Justin Beeber, Stereophnics festival and Bon Jovi was performing in Sydney which my made my accommodation search really hard to find and then really expensive. Cost wise going from Asia to Australia was a massive shock to the system. Paying $4,80 for water after having paid 20c in Asia was rather painful. Even though Australia was expensive Sydney proved to be world class. The Opera house and Sydney harbour bridge were awesome.
I did my first "free" city walking tour, we walked all through the city to the main attractions for 4 hours in the rain. Little did I know how ill that would make me, I was poorly for days after. As accommodation was so expensive, I decided to escape Sydney for the Blue Mountains.
I walked from the Blue mountains hostel in Katoomba to Echo Point, 3 sisters, princess pass and Katemba falls. I paid $14 to go up the highest/steepest railway in the world. It was really exhilarating and breathtaking views for the 5 sec ride. Apparently the name Blue Mountains comes from the glow from the type of trees that grow there. Unfortunately damage from the so typical fires could be seen around. The views were still amazing though.
I got back to the hostel and met 2 lovely Canadian ladies there, we enjoyed dinner and pool together. The next day they drove us to Wentworth falls where we started the Australian national pass route which was spectacular!!
We had lunch in the park, where after they were kind enough to drop me off at the station to catch my train back to Central station in Sydney. I made it in time to check into Jackaroo hostel and off to the Dansk Road Hillsong church service.
In the morning I took the ferry from Sydney harbour to Manly beach, I felt a bit miserable still even though I'd been taking antibiotics. Disappointing 'cause if I had a bit more energy, catching a wave or two would have been in order.
From there took another ferry to Panaratta, was so scenic, passed the olympic park and several other neighbourhoods and took the train back into the city.
Still had time to do a walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee, so beautiful with the oceans calming roars from the side.
It was time to leave Sydney, thankfully my flight wasn't too early as I was still feeling terrible. My flight took off at 12:30 for Brisbane.
