Loas
Leaving chaing mai we headed north to huay xai and stayed a night on the boarder of north Thailand.
We stayed in these Thai wood cabins and had the first power shower so far of the trip after 6 hours on a small mini bus ramed with people with a crazy driver we deserved it! The next day we got our visas sorted and traveled into loas for the first time, we caught a 6 hrs boat, very slow! To this random place called pak beng which we managed to get a room for £3.00 very pleased with that one,pak beng a tiny village nestled in the jungle and hills at the side of the mekong river. The electricity shuts off at 10 as the whole town is run on a generator so that equaled no fan which equaled no sleep for ads!! the next day we got back on our slow boat for 8 hours and admired the views of loas on the mekong river, I taught a group of people to play poker which passed the time and got talking to a guy from NZ who told us all about the new zealand and got us even more excited about going there.
The boat was cramped, but you could walk around but we were on the floor most of the time just relaxing and chatting toi fellow backpackers.The boat was filled with people from all over the world and was great to talk about travel stories.

We arrived in luang prabang about 6 o'clock and everyone went for a well deserved beer loas which is the nicest beer in south east asia. And went to see this live ozy band, really fun night. We booked into a lovely guest house for only 6 pounds a night and the comfiest beds yet, so the next day we caught up on our sleep and just got to know the town, the next day we got a tuk tuk a bike taxi! To the kouang SI water falls with an Irish couple (Richard and Helen) and 2 girls English girls (Carly and Sarah), we had a great laugh and we have never seen such a beautiful set of waterfalls, mich showed off her gym skills with a front flip 360 on a 14 ft. jump and every one went crazy. I tried a back flip on the rope swing and winded myself severely by landing on my back not nice! We then trekked to this cave and mich flipped out because she didn't like the small spaces, we all tured off out flashlights nich was not impressed!

We all got along so well that the 6 of us had meals and drinks in the evenings. In luang prabang the people are so chilled,its a great place to kickback for a few days and enjoy the french colonial influcanced city. this way of life suits us so much we have decided to spend 6 days here, no one hassles you people are amazingly friendly and its cheap cheap!!!!

We have now booked the next part of our journey. We leave Luang Prabang on Thurs afternoon 7/5/09 on a flight to Hanoi. Was fairly pricey for out here but is onnly 1 hour in duration. To travel by bus would have meant a 8 hour journey to vang vieng, 8 hours to Vientiene and then a 24 hour bus journey to Hanoi!!!!! We are way too chilled as travellers to do all that. We have decided its not good to be on the move all the time as you don't enjoy the experience as much and you could start to resent it.
