Living the London dream continues! Today we met a great old college friend of mine, Linda, and had another awesome day exploring the city. After dropping our gear at her apt in Finsbury Park in Nth London; we hopped the tube down to Borough Market to have a look around and get a little lunch. We saw some amazing looking stuff but settled on a good ol' fashioned curry. Also, visited an amazing cheese shop right up the street from the place where the infamous shootout scene took place in the contemporary British film Classic: Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. We sampled about a dozen cheeses before settling on a funky Brie and awesome Blue. Next, we tracked down another Young's pub, Bunch of Grapes, to cash in our final 2 free birthday pint coupons. No beer so tasty as a free one! After we had quenched our thirst; we headed back north to the picturesque (and expensive) suburb of Hampstead and wandered through the beautiful park there before heading back to the pad to enjoy the cheese we had purchased earlier with Linda's fiancé, Tim, along with some wine and cold beer. We finished and hopped a bus well north and out of the city to a renowned Fish n' Chippery called Toff's in Muswell Hill. And, let me say it was worth the journey... We had HUGE portions of fresh grilled Halibut and fried Cod with chips, mushy peas and a side of pickles. For an appetizer we had the deep fried Camembert cheese (stupid good) and of course finished the meal off with a freshly made Spotted Dick. (Even managed to order without laughing out loud; although many jokes were made before, during and after it's consumption). So much for gaining an advanced level of maturity with my old age and grey hairs! We finished the night off with a night cap at one of Linda and Tim's local watering holes: the impressive Faltering Fullback. It was a short, but awesome visit with a good old friend and her awesome soon-to-be Hubby! Congrats to Linda and Tim and thanks, again, for the hospitality!
