Who knew?!?!? Bryson City, NC has it going on! Mostly known for being home to the Great Smokey Mt railroad, it has it's fair share of tourist trap-esque establishments. But, if you dig a little deeper you will find some pretty cool spots... Of note is Nantahala Brewing Co. which we'd have to rate as up there amoungst the (many) micro breweries that we've visited on this trip. And, no blog from Bryson City is complete without mentioning Mickey's Pub. Wow! Not sure how the Lonely Planet people missed this little gem. Easily the best dive bar we've been to on this trip...(ever?!). Heavy on the neon beer signs, sweet custom beer pong table, ridiculously awesome juke box, a bar tender who used to be an elephant trainer with Ringling Bros. (I think I convinced him to read "Water for Elephants"), and can't help but notice the hundreds of bras of ALL sizes hanging from the rafters! Incredible!
Oh yeah, and Adrian was challenged to a mallet smashing (tough guy contest) against 350lb half black, half Cherokee guy... Yes!!! He actually managed to beat him too by 300+ points. Pretty sure it was because the machine wasn't able to register the other guys smash, as he nearly toppled the thing over!
Anyway, yeah Bryson City- good times!
