I woke up the next morning, The Swedes had already gone. We were all getting too Mooloolaba at different times. The Swedes were to get there first on the early morning greyhound bus. Then Tom, Jeeves, Hana and Lauren would be getting two local buses too Mooloolaba and I would get the 12.40 Greyhound on my own. Everyone would have done the same but it appeared I had taken the last seat on the 12.40, so we all had to go our separate ways for a while. We packed our stuff up and went to Subway for a breakfast foot long. They then went to catch the bus while I moosed about Noosa for an hour until I would get my bus.
To be honest I was pretty nervous about the bus. It semt strange that I booked the bus and then it didn't appear when anyone else wanted to book that bus. The bus couldn't be full could it? I had never seen a 100% full Greyhound. I speculated that they might have cancelled the bus and other potential situations. I would just have to hope for the best and keep my fingers crossed. My worries were eased as I got to the bus stop as there were plenty of other backpackers waiting. It was another classic greyhound tale of lateness though as the bus turned up 53 minutes late. I couldn't be mad with the driver though, he sat me behind him as I was the next stop. Plus he reminded me of my dad, happy, bubbly and always telling the same jokes every day. The bus journey would only be 50 minutes, so I put on some Pigeon Detectives and it was over in no time.
I eventually arrived at the hostel and we went straight out surfing. Yes I have eventually tried to surf! We hired boards from our hostel for free and tried to teach our selves it was very hard and not as easy as it looks on TV. It also didn't help that we were doing it in really calm sea so there wasn't any good waves to catch. For this reason Jeeves and I decided to explore the area. This turned out to be quite an adventure as we may have got a little lost and Jeeves got attacked by a dog to which I saved the day! We made it back after another ridiculously long walk but we soon found ourselves on another adventure when we were trying to find an open Bottle Shop. With the help from Brady from McDonalds and Katie from Subway we eventually cracked it and got ourselves some beers, we got back and as you may have guessed we played some drinking games. This time Uno and charades. It was a fun night but we called it a night around midnight as we had the Zoo to go to tomorrow.
I woke up the next morning excited, a little hung over and hungry. Ever since I was a kid I have loved Steve Irwin. I remember rushing home from school to watch his TV programmes and his death was a tragedy! So to be going to his Zoo was really exciting. We had a cheeky McDonald's breakfast and then caught the bus to the Zoo. The zoo totally lived up to my expectation, I never it not too even though people had told me bad things about it. It didn't have too many animals and the Zoo mainly focussed on the crocodiles. But I'm a reptile man so it was right up my street. They also put on regular shows which was very entertaining my favourites being the Otter Feeding Show, The Croc show and the Wild Warriors Show. I also saw a Tasmanian Devil, something which I thought was only a myth and a cartoon character. They looked weird, like a massive rat and a small bear combined. They look harmless but apparently they a bit three times as hard as a pit-bull! I purchased myself a Steve Irwin Tribute book and left the zoo feeling very happy with the day and very nostalgic about one of my many childhood and adulthood hero's! My advice for anyone going to Australia is to visit the zoo, not necessarily just for the animals but also for the story of the legendary Steve Irwin!
We all got home after a two bus trip and a cheeky schooner and were a little jaded so we had a nap before nipping to McDonalds for a cheeky bit of free Wi-Fi. The night was pretty relaxed after that. The Swedes watched a movie, as did Hana and Lauren. Tom, Jeeves and I had a few beers and playing s***head for money. I was the big winner of the night winning $1.50. I know we were playing high stakes!
The next morning we woke up, had breakfast and waited for the greyhound bus. Yes you are right folks; it was time to move on to our next destination. We were Brisbane bound!
So until next time kids Stay Safe and Take Care
