Good Afternoon Folks,
As I am sat here waiting for a bus to the south of Thailand, I thought I would update you with a couple of my blogs. The first one is about our 3 days in Siem Reap, which was our last destination in Cambodia before we returned to Bangkok.
The bus to Siem Reap was ok, and as you know from my last blog, Alex pulled off one last surprise by getting us a free tuk tuk pick-up when we arrived. That afternoon we didn't do much but explore the city, we didn't really have any drinks that night as we had to be up at 4.30am the next day to go and see the sun rise at the Ankor Wat temple. This was a really nice site, the Ankor Wat temples were also really good, we got to see quite a few temples, some pretty steep and it was good to see the temple where the Tomb Raider film was filmed. But overall I felt that the place lacked any real information, so it would have been probably more benficial for us to get a tour guide. Unfortunately these sort of things are quite pricey for a backpacker. That afternoon Earl was pretty tired so had a power nap where as I decided I wanted to go for a swim, I had read about a place called Aqua which had a pool and pool bar, so thought I would give that pkace a whirl. I had no idea where Aqua was, so my plan was to ask a tuk tuk driver. Two tuk tuk drivers later and I was no where near Aqua, but I did end up at a swimming pool and villa complex, this was pretty decent as it turned out I had the pool to myself. I did a few cheeky lengths, had a drink and moose about and then headed back, where on my way I thought it would be a good idea to treat my dancing feet to a fish message, this experience I did not fully enjoy, the fish went to town on my mosquito bites I had on my feet and ankles and it tickled quite a bit, although my feet felt wondefully refreshed afterwards I don't think I would have it done again.
The next day saw us take a trip to the national museum, this was pretty good although I thought a tad pricey and a little bit repetitive. That night we made our prescence felt on pub street, the street is actually full more with restaurants than bars or pubs, but wee found a fair few places to have a few cheeky beers and cocktails. Including temple Bar, Angkor What, Easy Speaking and X-Bar. X-Bar was particular fun as we commendeared the fusball table.
After a steady lie-in the next day we had breakfast and decided to go to the land-mine museum and war museuem, both of these were pretty good and gave plenty of information. That night we went to pub street again but we had a bus to Bangkok at 2am so we decided only to have a few cheeky beers and watch the football at our hotel before we left.
