Well after 24hours, 2 packets of Crisps, some crackers, Tzatziki dip, water, sweeties, one big bus, one small bus, a car ferry and another little bus, Me & jess arrived in Ko Samui where we were going to be based for the full moon party on Ko Phangan on New Years Eve.
Our first night on the island, we decided to test our partying skills in the resort of Chaweng which was mental...even if the 60year old grey haired fox's with 18-19 year old Thai girls did give it a seedy edge. Green Mango was the choice of venue and it must've have been too intimidating for the silver fox's because there was none in there. Just hundreds of tourists and locals up for a good party. Jess danced her crazy socks of whilst I did the ol' "uncle knobhead" routine to a soundtrack that sounded like every other song was Black Eyed Peas (the Thai's love Black eyed peas)...which probably has something to do with the fact that every dish you ever order at a restaurant..now comes with peas. You could order a bread sandwich and it would still come with some misplaced green fellas. Luckily, Jess' favourite food is peas so they all went down together.
After a few hours we decided to retire back to our beach hut which was right on the beach of Lamaii (the next bay to Chaweng) and crashed.
Next morning we had a 10am check-out which was pretty brutal considering we didn't get to sleep until about 4am from the night out. It was time to move to our little bungalow up on the northern area of the island (Maenaem). Our bungalow here was absolutely stunning..and we got the one that is featured in their brochures front page (right by the pool). The owners were lovely and really went out of their way to make sure you enjoyed your stay, including handing over the keys to one of their mopeds when the local grocery store was shut. We didn't take the bike becuase neither of us felt safe as the roads were pretty ropey and the highway code...What highway code? You need big massive balls to be able to get on a moped over there. Either that or a brain transplant with a brain that has been kindly donated by someone who touched electric powere cable to "see if it would tingle a bit".
We decided to relax by the pool and eat some food from the restaurant and drink some beers and get an early night.
31st Dec - New Years Eve
As per sod's law, I came out in a rash which I needed to see a pharmacy about and it turned out that I sweat like a nun in a prison full of rapists and the "man" told me to take some of "this", some of "that" and apply talc each day to reduce the sweating. He also told me that my hair was causing the excessive sweating as it "looked like an abandoned dog" (presumably a poodle type as that's possibly the only dog I can think of that has curly hair). The decision was made and I went to find me a hairdresser to get my hair chopped. Now, Thailand being Thailand...I've heard stories about crazy barbers that just hack at your hair so I went walking around to make sure I found a decent one...and I did!!! Well...it looked nice, but the lady couldn't have cut her own lawn with a tractor, let alone hair with scissors. So after a bodged hair cut, I made my way back to Jess where I was welcomed with a wonderful rapture of laughter. Not bad then really, if it makes people laugh, It's worth keeping!!! So I didn't do anything to it.
That night we headed to Ko Phangan for the full moon party!!! Whoa!!! What a night!!!
