Spent 4 days in Tokyo. Arrived Wednesday morning after a 10 hour flight. Claire got a bit too excited by the amount of films she could watch that she forgot to sleep on the plane. So on arrival in Tokyo she was a zombie. Tokyo was great and perfectly easy to navigate as there are signs in english. We visited the Tokyo Tower, Sony Building, Museum of Science(cool robots), Imperial Palce garden. Early one morning we went to the Tsukiji fish market and saw all the fresh fish being sold off. Then we braved a tiny sushi restaurant. It was the most amazing thing and the kind waiter took our photo. Lots of differnt types of fish plus soup and green tea. The chefs and waiter were constantly shouting to each other. A good discovery was the food stalls located in the basement of big department store where you can buy sushi and dim sums. So much more happened and photos to follow soon.

Tokyo Hostel...this was a great place to start, nice that we had our own room so we could crash out!!! we finally found the air con button after sizzling in the heat for the first few hours!!! The first sushi we had was fantastic....was only one dodgy looking one that i didnt touch was way too slimey for me!!! Travelled to Ropongi Hills and found the NUNO shop....gorgeous fabric everywhere i was a kid in a sweet shop....for those of you who know NUNO its fabulous textiles and i had to buy something...took a while but finally bought a fab scarf!!!!whoop whoop!!! Did a lot of walking about today in the rain- our new best friend is a see through plastic umbrella!!! Saw the night skyline from the 45th floor of the government buildings....took us a while to find it though...spent a while wandering round electric city (Shinjuku area) till a secruity guard practically jumped out at us and ushered us to the elevator!!!! You cant really get lost here...theres a yellow brick road on the floor of most pavements pointing you in the direction of subways...its great its like the wizard of oz!
Think we found the famous zebrz crossing that gets used in films....in Ginza district....took a film crossing it- so busy and hectic! Went to the first of many temples- Asakusa Kannon Temple- quite touristy but a good start -lots of random market stalls lining the streets. Took the ferry back instead of the subway...always gotta do a boat cruise when your on hols- theres many a pretty bridge in Tokyo! Also another great dinner- i know its all food food food but its brill over here- we found a sapporo beer hall!!!
