Day 5 on the ship and getting more used to how everything works gradually. On monday I had my first chance to get off the ship in Ravenna, Italy to do some teambuilding with the cast and crew of both the theatre and the ice show. It was extremely hot and was a really nice looking place with a beach that went on for miles full of thousands of people. A huge game of volleyball and some beers on the beach was a great way to spend the afternoon and gave me a good break from the training and work.
My job isn't quite as I expected, mostly because we are working in the ice theatre so half of the time is spent cutting the ice and changing the layout to suit the different events that take place. It's not bad though because its not too repetative and its deffinetly keeping me fit! Yesterday I had a couple of hours free time so me and one of the new guys that started at the same time went into Bari in Italy to have a look around. We couldn't have picked a worse time because, not long after getting off the ship, it threw it down with rain and we came back looking like we'd fallen overboard. Even in the rain, it was a nice looking place, not as picturesque as Venice but less effected by tourism so it fealt alot more Italian.
Last night was the first time working on the Ice show that takes place four times a week and I was just thrown in at the deep end working on one side of the stage moving scenery and helping skaters on and off the ice. Apparently I did well with it and i'm sure after a few more times i'll be doing it in my sleep.
As i'm writing this were docked in Dubrovnik in Croatia and from what I can see out of the window, it looks amazing but I havent got time to go off so I hopefully will next time we come round to it. Tonight, I am working for the parade that the cast do through the ship and then there is a party organised in the staff and officers mess that i'm going to. Off to get some sleep before a very long night.
