My previous entry although somewhat daunting really did not even scratch the surface of mine and my accomplices activities spent in a drunken rage... Some memories vivid , others not so!
By day or by night Rio is an amazing city. I would say personally that I enjoyed the days considerably more. Not only for the reason that my body was capable of normal function but the sun, the sea and the sites gave you plenty of options.
Swimming and people watching with maybe just a couple cheeky cerveajas on copacabana is an authentic highlight in its self !
Had a sick afternoon chillen on the beach bodysurfing and hammering cans with my mate Corey Page and his two buddies Tim and jack from back home. Good swapping some stories with some other shire lads who were having a serious crack !
The block party's of a day are far better and hugely populated too !
On the last day of carnivale, pushing my bender fitness to new peaks I attended with Harry, Liam and a few others what was called the Beatles boco. (boco is block party) very cool, all well known Beatles tracks remixed Brazilian style was belowing throughout this street parade occupied also by apparently more than 200 thousand people !
Me and another Aussie guy Jed made the trek back to the hostel shortly after as we had the samba drome that night. Ill never forget (though I wish I could) mine and Jeds experience with a porter-loo on our voyage home. Opening the door you were met with a stench that was surely as toxic as that which was used in the gas chambers during the haulecaust. And the site could only be explained as though somebody had let a grenade of s*** off inside... I think I aged 10years from that brief but intense encounter. Arriving back at the hostel we were welcomed by Hommus who was nude all bar underpants and covered head to toe in body paint in vomit like fashion. He seemed content , I was in stitches !
The samba drome that night was epic ! We paid a fair amount but money well spent. That's what you go to carnivale for!! It starts 7pm and goes till 7am, we went on the final night which is the biggest... Of course you don't stay the whole time- there is people filtering in constantly throughout the parade. If you do a few calculations you realize that close to a million people would have attended that venue for a period of time throughout the course of the night - crazy! We stayed for 2 schools (approx 2 hours) and that was enough.
It wasn't until our final day that myself, draper, DC, Matty and Jobey (work mate of the kiwis) did the city tour to hit the major sites. Seen some nice beaches but the cream of the crop is surely the Christ of redeemer ! Woah ! Bucket list - tick !
Then to the infamous Lapa steps and Learnt alot about their creation and the suspicious death of the man who orchestrated the masterpiece.
The final day at the hostel was a very sleepy weathered day filled broken souls all victims of Rio Carnivales cruel party induced wrath. I was feeling it... Our exit to the spectacular falls couldn't come quick enough !!
Had some trouble booking my flights then some major delays but all in all escaped rio with all limbs in tact and some brain cells to spare ..
Woah ! What a week, what a city , what a party !!!
