So today most of the group went to take part in their various activities which included quad biking over sand dunes, a boat trip to see the dolphins and sandboarding. Adam and I spent the day with Christina, Simone and Stefanie and our first stop was at the local snake park.
On arrival the owner's wife showed us a baby iguana which was only 2 days old and being kept in a little margarine tub. It was pure white like an albino although they say it will start to change colour as it gets older. One eye was shut and it is believed the poor thing will remain blind in that eye. It was soooooo small it could sit on the tip of your finger and you could squash it as easily as a fly! Very sweet though.
I held a Burmese Python and the rest all held a normal Python for a while as we took pictures and learnt all about the snakes. Many others were locked away as they are known to be too dangerous. For me the most beautiful snake there was the male Boomslang which can actually be found on the farm in South Africa. The females are a boring brown but the males are a really interesting shade of blue/green.
Next we headed off for our pedicures and massages in town. A real treat and my feet now feel so soft and clean, not to mention beautifully painted toenails!
After lunch we wandered the town checking out the local gift shops and met others from the group who were returning from their activities. Solveig (the self-confessed clumsy one) had managed to flip her quad bike over on top of her and all the oil had run out and given her second degree burns on her leg! Ouch! The bruising all over her was pretty impressive too! Solveig admitted full responsibility although the guide would have to face a tribunal because of it. She was treated but refused hospital. Luckily we have 2 nurses and 2 medical students on the tour! Siziba's first-aid training is null and void.
The evening was spent in another local bar/restaurant and then Adam and I joined Christina, Stefanie and Simone at the cinema to watch the new Sherlock Holmes film! Loved his quote about horses...."dangerous on both ends and crafty in the middle"!!!
