Our last day in Beijing!
Well we haved loved it here in Beijing, the sites are amazing every where you look! We have met some great people and have eaten the nicest food we have ever tasted (i'm sorry Carole is does beat your roast dinner, although i am missing our sunday and monday dinners quite alot!) We managed to pay just 8 pound for 10 people to have dinner and 2 beers each, cant imagine doing that back home for that cheap!
We went to Beihai park yesterday, which was 10 yuan to get in so again cheap as chips! There was a massive lake and lots of grass around the outside which you aren't allowed to sit on, but at one end of the park was the lama temple, which is where to dhali lama visited in the 18th centurary. We managed to see into some old caves where there were statues of old chinese people and lots of cobwebs, needless to say i (sam) didnt like that very much, but i coped just fine! The caves were said to create a feeling of being in a fairy land, and it really did, as you entered the caves you could make up stories in your head as to what they were used for and why they were there!
We also took some photos of our street that the hostel is on, one including a sex shop which we didnt notice for quite a few days, we were so shocked when we realised what it was, needless to say i never saw anyone go in or out of that shop!
We are off to Shanghai tonight on an overnight train we booked the hard sleeper so im not sure how much we are going to aches tomorrow, but im sure we will let you know! Beijing is great and we would recommend anyone to come here, slightly scary at first but its easy to fall in love with this city!
Love to all
