Hi everyone we've finally got round to updating our Phuket blog! (by Adam- certified diver)
We first arrived in Phuket on the 2 nd of November and we were looking forward to hitting the beach! We had a few beaches to choose from but we decided on kata beach because we heard it had a nice chilled out atmosphere with a surfer vibe!
We managed to find a cheap room as always lol and sacrificed air con and a hot shower, it was about 100m to the beach and was £6 per room a night which was ideal!! It was red hot and we headed straight for the beach, it was about 5pm and the beach was excellent the sun was just setting and it was just what we needed after being in hectic Hanoi!!
However just as we set our towels down and lay in the sun this chubby fat bulldog came waddling over and curled out a poo right next to our patch we couldnt believe it and as it did it's business it looked over it's shoulder and I swear it smiled at us!! Haha
The next couple of days we just chilled out on the beach and rested!! It's hard work travelling! We then contemplated hiring a moped to see the rest of the island, my heart was saying yes but my head (dad) was saying no haha I did assess the risks dad but the pros outweighed the cons! Even though it does say Phuket has the highest death rate on mopeds haha but we just put that down to English drunks!
The next morning we went out on our moped an visited a few different beaches and view points, but the best was when we went to the most southern point on Phuket, bought some fruit and just watched the sunset! We parked up and had to trek across this island which juts out onto the sea! We loved our moped just riding on it, seemed like we had so much freedom!! Might do my bikers license when I return lol don't worry dad we will talk about it when I return haha
The next couple of days in kata we decided on doing a diving course, we always intended to do one but weren't sure where but we found a good dive shop that we both liked! So we went for it!
The dive shop had a real personal feel and we had our own private scottish instructor and it seemed alot better than others we had seen. It was called oceanic and was run by two English people! It involved some studying so we had early nights and did some swatting together well, I fell asleep and louise finished the swatting and I tended to copy the answers off louise the next morning haha
The course involved four days, the first two days were split into 2 parts half in the classroom and half in the pool doing skills! And the final two days were in a boat doing ocean dives as practice! In the classroom louise kept working herself like a naughty girl everytime our instructor chris turned around To write on the board she would pull funny faces and do a stupid dance to make me laugh haha (if you know louise then you know exactly what silly dance I'm talking about) lol
The skills in the pool were quite difficult but louise did excellent every skill we had to do she just done it with no problems! The skills included, pulling your full mask off under water and putting back on and clearing all the water out whilst still underwater and still being able To breath if your regulator malfunctions if it breaks it means it pumps out air continuously and you have to suck the air from the bubbles underwater and you can't panic and go to the surface because it's really dangerous to ascend to the surface too fast! Anyways I can't explain all of it now but I was really impressed she completed it!!
Our two ocean dives were brilliant we went to an island called racha Yai and desended into the ocean and you have to equalize ur ears all the time incase they pop! We went To a depth of 12 meters the first dive and 18m on the last day. We saw octopus, eels, starfish, cuttlefish which are my favourite it's hard to explain but they change colour all the time! At the end we were awarded our certification and we both feel it was alot of money but it's so worth it an you learn so much. now all were doing is looking for more dive trips haha
Love Adam and louise xx

Mam and Dad Hi Lou and Adam - hope you haven't shrunk. The pictures and colours of the fish are great. The new case for the camera obviously worked. If you book more diving - don't get complacent - be careful and keep safe. What you have achieved so far is brilliant - Keep surfing. Lots of Love Mam Dad and Tyke xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
